COUNCIL OF EUROPE ELECTS 1ST TURKISH PRESIDENT
ANSAmed- Mevlut Cavusoglu was elected President of the Parliamentary Assembly at the Council of Europe today. He is the first Turkish member to take the position since Turkey became a member of the pan-European organisation in 1949...
Mevlut Cavusoglu says that his presidency ''will help Turkey to reach European standards and gain access to the European Union''.
In 2001 he was one of the founders of the party of Erdogan, and has been a member of the Turkish delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly at the Council of Europe since 2003.
